Following the Thanksgiving holiday, we decided that it was appropriate to share some images from the beautiful wedding of Jessica and Daniel. Held at the Scripps Seaside Forum, this celebration was filled with good food and fun. The chic, classic color palette of gold and shades of purple make the venue and party come to life. With little details such as “hooray” party poppers and see-through umbrellas for the rain, these flawless pictures taken by True Photography really highlight Jessica and Daniel’s special day- another happy and well fed couple. Last month we had the pleasure of catering the San Diego wedding of Bart and Janelle (who might just be the cutest couple in San Diego) at the Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla. The couple and their guests enjoyed an array of artisan cheeses, ceviche, crab cakes, sauteed pasta, london broil–just to name a few–for an eclectic, yet scrumptious dinner. The Board:
There are color combinations that will remain classic and timeless through the years. Much like black and white, navy and yellow is a classic and chic pairing that although innately elegant and preppy, also has a playful side. It is safe to say that it is one of our favorite color pairings so it only seemed appropriate to dedicate a mood board to the navy-yellow wedding of our dreams.
The Process:
What anchored the board was the super adorable bride holding a yellow bouquet. She is a bride that doesn’t take herself too seriously but still enjoys the classic with a twist. The neutrals like dove grey, tan, and navy blue anchor the color scheme and allow the pops of yellow to make a statement without being overpowering. The result: a whimsical, yet refined navy-yellow wedding fit for a fun and fierce bride.

This pair, Nadia and Brian: what an amazing couple to work with! We had a blast catering their wedding at the gorgeous Fairbanks Ranch Clubhouse in Rancho Santa Fe. Creamy almond-colored satin linen was topped with luscious white rose centerpieces and accented with touches of glittering gold. Beef bourguignon, fig + gorgonzola ravioli, and goat cheese + bacon jam delicacies kicked off the celebration but a scrumptious surf + turf meal ended the night, making this an ambrosial affair. Sunset views reflected romantically over a lake, and flickering bistro lights provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettably ethereal experience.

An evening reception is so expected, right? Be like Elena and Drew who stepped out of the box, and opted for a morning of marriage and merriment. They shared the most important meal of the day with their closest friends and family during an intimate and joyful affair. This adorable couple enjoyed made-to-order waffles, omelets, and mimosas in lieu of the typical meat and potatoes dinner. The wedding was filled with unexpected and whimsical details that perfectly matched the couple’s personality. What a joy to have been a part of this bon vivant wedding brunch!

The most obvious, perhaps, is to limit the number of people you invite, but as BridalGuide.com points out, this is no easy task. It can be difficult and stressful to whittle the guest list down, but there are other ways to save that can help offset the cost of a larger guest list. Be sure to compare the prices of buffet versus sit-down menus—sometimes you can make significant savings in this area, and the cheapest option isn’t necessarily what you think. If you want to provide alcoholic drinks, consider limiting the bar to wine and beer, or have an open bar for only the first half of the reception. Choosing a caterer that serves food in-season can potentially reduce food costs too, because you’re not paying extra for out-of-season vegetables and fruits. There are certain expenses that many people overlook, which can lead to an unpleasant shock when bills are received. Surprisingly, one of the most common is remembering to include the bride and groom in the head count for the reception, say financial experts money.co.uk. We recently had the opportunity to work with super sweet and super talented, Suzanne Hansen (who shot most of the photos on our new site. You like?) of She Wanders and insanely adorable and artistic, Jenny Minns of Luxe Events. Ummm…can you say DREAM TEAM?!! With the New Children’s Museum as the perfect backdrop, a midnight foodie feast was dreamt up by these creative goddesses. We were simply delighted to be a part of this awesomeness.
